It's an example of how people are willing to follow trends without knowing why they do it. The "n" word is derogatory because of the history of blacks being slaves in the US. That's what white masters refer to their black slaves as if they were a different specie. Coming from the US, I hear people use it all the time. I guess when I hear African-Americans refer to each other that way, it is ok. It's even considered as a term of endearment. I think what you said about technology is very interesting. I have an iPod and I do all the blogs and things on the computer but also in poor neighboorhoods in Cartagena or in other poor towns of Colombia, there are no technologies. Only some people have old TVs in those places. I think that affects everything a lot, mostly education and daily life in general because in the computer you can chat with your friends and everything.
