On December 26th 2004, many lives were lost in a tragic Tsunami that occurred in Indonesia, Thailand and the north-western coast of
Malaysia. This Tsunami also stretched to thousands of kilometers away in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and even as far as Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania in eastern
Africa. This unfortunate event killed approximately 230,000 people, making it the deadliest tsunami in recorded history.
An Indonesian radio station interviewed a witness named Teti who said that the waves were as high as trees. These giant waves destroyed many houses and even hotels.
The International Tsunami information center has taken precautions and issued a tsunami watch to signal any upcoming Tsunamis.
